Day 1 - Hong Kong

11 Dec – Thursday

Landed at Macau Airport at 1940. Without much planning for the trip, we went to the airport information counter to enquire about the route towards the ferry terminal and we were told to take AP1 just outside the airport.. And soon we realized that we didn’t ask where we were supposed to alight!

As the bus weaves through the traffic and through the city, casinos one after another was seen by the road and its just like another mini Las Vegas! (though we haven been to Las Vegas before haha). And so we chit-chatted along the way and its only some time later that we realize… so where are we supposed to alight?!

Asked a local sitting down regarding the stop for ferry terminal and it was only then that a China International (from his accent) told us that we should have alighted at the stop before this! Oh great. We started off our journey with a mistake. Left with little or no choice, we had to take a 10 minutes walk back to the previous stop..

As we reached there with our stomachs empty, the previous meal being the breakfast in Singapore, we had to endure the hunger and bought a HKD176 ferry ticket to Hong Kong to meet up with Kai.

Reached MongKok at 11pm and we were surprised with the number of people on the streets! It was really busy, packed and crowded with people and its just like a city that doesn’t sleep. Food at a local Café was quite good, at least for me, the pork culet rice tasted great and we also had a first taste of the high price of food here…

However, what was more surprising was the state of our hostel. It was practically like a HDB flat, with an apartment there being changed into a hostel. The room was super small with 2 double decker beds. The toilet was SUPER small too!
