It was freaking hot and stuffy inside this 6 men dorm as we shared the room with 2 other caucasians. It was this decisive moment when a smarty-pants called Ang decided to open the door leading to the balcony, hoping for better ventilation.
It proved to be the worst decision ever made as the room was infested by countless mosquitos and bugs! 'Yiieeeee' was all you could hear from the commando-mozzies and irritating was the only word to describe it. Everyone was practically beaten all over, despite having applied insect repellent all over.
We felt really sorry for the 2 caucasians for Ang's moment of foolishness that caused them a sleepless, itchy and hot night. Just a side note, Ang and Weiyang actually dared to escape to the city centre at 0100hrs for a cup of coffee in an overnight cafe and returned only at 0400hrs, leaving Kai and Song to suffer in silence at the dorm. Pissed :(

Hopped on to the Mekong Express Limousine Bus at 0730hrs to our next destination - Phnom Penh. On the bus, we were provided with light snacks of bread and puffs. An English-speaking local guide was also present to answer any queries that we might have. The 5-hour journey proved to be a good time for weary Ang to catch up on his sleepless night. Zzz.
Upon arrival at Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia, we were mobbed by enthusiastic tuk-tuk drivers, all wanting to make business.
"Tuk-tuk, Sir?"
"Choose me, I can speak English."
"USD1 to anywhere in the city."
"Want hotel? Cheap hotel?"
Had a hard time rejecting them all, trying to find a way out of the overzealous crowd. And we are proud to announce that we survived it! Without a specific accomodation in mind, we walked around the city for almost an hour, in search for an ideal hotel. Equipped with the backpacking mindset, we wouldn't compromise our budget for luxury and thus 'CHEAP' is the only word on our mind. Tin Tin Hotel fits the bill prefectly as USD 20 for 4 persons a night with decent facilities was just too good a deal to reject.

Central market - Phomn Penh
To our surprise, Phomn Penh is a lot different from Siem Reap. The lifestyle here is a lot more hectic and the streets are packed with locals and motorbikes, all busy at their respective workstations.
Explored the city centre till late afternoon before proceeding to dinner at a local noodles restaurant which we chanced upon. A unique noodles soup coupled with its really cheap price, it was an ideal backpacker's meal.
Tried BBWorld's 2pc chicken (similar to KFC) at Phomh Penh's biggest shopping centre, Sorya. The fried chicken was less oily compared to KFC and the meat was much more tender. Yummy!! Great way to enjoy a not so healthy meal! Somewhere near the shopping mall, spotted a roadside stall selling fried sticks of meatballs, hotdogs, seafood etc, similar to Penang's Lok Lok. Together with a local sauce, cucumber, some crunchy vegetables, it is a perfect fingerfood to satisfy one's craving.
Took an early night rest and sightseeing in Phnom Penh shall start officially tomorrow!
